About Us

A Companions Way, the Gloucestershire course in spiritual accompaniment, was launched in 1998 and has run successfully as a two-year course bringing together people who wish to learn more about the ancient practice of spiritual direction.

  • The course aims to offer-
ways to facilitate deep listening to God, self, and another in a shared, safe, confidential space
  • tasters of different prayer styles and spiritualities, including a wide variety of Christian Contemplative prayer methods and wisdom teaching
  • practical opportunities and guidance to learn and develop listening skills in a supportive environment, encouraging best practice

The course is a mixture of residential weekends, online learning, and day workshops spread over 4 semesters, meeting usually at around fortnightly intervals.
People who are drawn to this course are usually those who are experiencing a sense of awareness of change in their physical or spiritual lives, or wishing to explore ways to deepen their relationship with God. They might also be those who have experienced a shift in life perspectives and feel called to find new ways to serve others in their locality.
